Bodegas Iranzo is Spain’s oldest estate winery, dating back to 1335. Notable is the Tarantas brand, produced by the Iranzo Perez–Duque family exclusively from organically grown grapes, imported into the US by Natural Merchants.  The red wine Monastrell has lots of tannin; balanced acidity, really nice fruit – plum and blackberry.  It is a big wine and very oaky – needs a big rare steak, short ribs or summer barbecues. Cayuse Vineyards | Walla Walla Valley, WA, USA

Cayuse creates at least a dozen critically-acclaimed wines each year, only available to those on the Cayuse mailing list. Château Maris | Languedoc, France

Located on the hillside above the village of La Liviniere, the soil of the vineyard, when purchased was dead, so they added biodynamic preparations to one organic compost pile and left another alone.  Soon the biodynamic pile contained far more living organisms so they decided to follow biodynamic and now the entire estate is certified by both Demeter and Biodyvin. County Line Vineyards | Sonoma Coast, California USA             County Line, Syrah, 2014: Eric Sussman of Radio-Coteau produces this excellent wine under his County Line label, called  “County Line” because the grapes are from both Mendocino County and Sonoma County. Radio-Coteau works closely with select cool-climate coastal vineyard sites to produce wines with vibrant, balanced fruit and a distinct sense of place. Focus is on organic viticulture in conjunction with a natural, non-interventionist approach in the cellar. A non-profit winery, Ehlers Estate donates all profits back to the cardiovascular research foundation that owns it.
